New DEX 3.6 Beta Version Available For Download
A new DEX 3.6 DJ software beta for MAC and Windows is available for download.
Please note: This is a beta version, so please test thoroughly before using live. You can roll back to the public release by re-installing from the DEX 3 support page HERE
It was our collective decision to release DEX 3.6 as a public beta today due to the depth and breadth of changes and upgrades. For example, the new loading engine included in the 3.6 beta is a total refactor, and now supports lesser-used file formats such as Flac HD and certain WMA files. The loading engine also fixes ‘error loading file’ issues with certain audio files that should have worked in previous iterations.
A new and significantly more exciting feature included in 3.6 is the ability to link video files to audio files. You will find a new tab in DEX 3.6’s options for “Video” — where you can select a folder of video files (Video files can have audio, or no audio) that will automatically play when only mixing audio and not music videos.
As is always the case with DEX 3 free updates we’ve also exterminated a few pesky bugs to ensure further overall stability and improved performance.
Important: Please note that Pulselocker functionality is currently disabled (we’re currently updating DEX 3 with a new Pulselocker SDK).
New And Changed In DEX DJ Software 3.6 Beta
- Completely refactored the file loading system (including multiple bug fixes)
- Ability to link video files to audio tracks (from a user-selectable videos folder, random video selection is available too)
- Video tab/panel added to the settings
- Multiple performance optimizations
- A few bugs squashed
Again, please note this is a BETA! Please test thoroughly before using live. You can roll back to the public release by re-installing from the DEX 3 support page HERE
If you have any questions or problems running the DEX 3.6 DJ Software beta version please post to the DEX 3 user forum.
Is this Windows 10 only? I keep getting a System Error “the program can’t start because api-ms-win-crt-runtime-I1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer. try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.”?
Hello, this is for Windows 7 and UP actually. I will check on this DLL error, sounds like it may just be something with our new compiler we’re using. I will get back asap!
you need to (re)install the Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015, either via Windows Update or download and directly install the Visual C++ Redistributable:

Thanks Bill,
The ‘missing .dll” is due to the new compiler were using, so we’ll have the DLL properly installing in all cases in the next beta (later this week).
I’m having the same problem
Hello, what is the problem, exactly, that you’re running into? Please share details so we can better assist. Thanks!
Problem with preview player, when clicking player button it doesn’t start… it works fine on 3.5.7
Thank you! I’ve confirmed on this end and reported back to development.
