Our mapping guru’s have just wrapped up DEX 3 and DEX 3 RE support for the Numark Party Mix (listed at only $99 a most online DJ equipment retailers), an entry-level DJ controller with a built-in light show. Yes, you heard that correctly – with the Numark Party Mix’s built-in light show you will “shower the room with beat synchronized colorful light patterns, creating the perfect party atmosphere!”
The Numark Party Mix may be designed for bedroom jocks looking to rock their next neighborhood house party but it is equipped with a smattering of pro-level features.
The professional DJ features that come with the Numark Party Mix include four cue points with readily accessible pads for effects. DJs can toggle through the Pad Mode and find auto loop functions and create loops on 8, 4, 2 and 1-bar phrases. Add instant effects to tracks and toggle to sampler mode for to control DEX 3’s sampler (only available on DEX 3, not included with DEX 3 RE). Control your EQ with treble, bass, channel gain and master gain.
The Numark Party Mix, somewhat surprisingly at this price-point, includes a built-in audio interface which means you have all the connections you need to send your mix of music to the speakers, while plugging in your headphones to preview the next track. This is a nice item for Numark to include that will help burgeoning DJs get used to mixing beats by ear instead of leaving entirely on Beat-Sync/Beat-Lock.
Of course the most unique feature which makes the Party Mix a mobile ‘party-in-a-box’ is the built in light-show.
The three LED light arrays automatically sync to your mix, flashing from the back of the Party Mix. DJs can leave them on or turn them off, which is nice. I’m sure on-the-go DJs performing sets at house parties will enjoy the built-in light show. The lights sync to beat perfectly which is certain to assist in setting the party mood.
We feel the Numark Party Mix feature-set syncs best with DEX 3 RE‘s capabilities. A 2-Deck DJ controller with the basics for mixing music. For DJs that plan to use it with the Pro Edition of DEX 3 you can mix music videos with the mapped crossfader.
